WAINSCOTING AND WAINSCOT PANELS

Wainscoting and Wainscot Panels are traditional designs to add to different areas in your home. Wainscot Panels can be used for walls and cabinets such as in the entryway, stairs, hallway, dining room, kitchen island, and also used outside on porch areas. Wainscot paneling is an easy do-it-yourself installation.

Wainscot can be made from a variety of materials such as wood panels and medium density fiberboard (MDF). Customers tend to use this not only for decorative purposes but also as a safeguard for walls and islands.

What Is Wainscoting?

Many may ask “what is wainscoting”? Traditional wainscoting is a type of decorative wood paneling that can be used alongside walls and cabinets. In the 18th century, the style of paneling changed from a floor-to-ceiling covering to one in which only the lower part of a wall would be covered.

One of the biggest questions that many get is “what’s the difference between wainscoting and beadboard?” The terms are commonly used interchangeably but they do have some important differences. Wainscoting is a style of the paneling and covers the lower third or half of the wall in a room to protect and prevent damage from your lower wall area. Beadboard is made up of narrow pieces of wood planks that align vertically on the wall.

What Are Different Wainscoting Styles?

Wellborn Cabinet offers wainscoting in various material and finish combinations to fit the design both homeowners and interior designers are looking to accomplish. Available style panels Wellborn Cabinet offers are the traditional raised panels, recessed flat Wainscot panels, and beadboard center panels. Wainscoting can go on any type of wall.

Flat Panel Wainscoting

Flat panel wainscoting also known as recessed flat panel wainscoting is used often for its easy installation. The type of panel that is used is a flat panel with a frame around the edges. Wellborn Cabinet has incorporated the flat panel wainscot into the island of our 2020 KBIS set 6. This design helps continue the elegant detailing of this modern traditional style kitchen.

Board and Batten

Board and Batten are essentially vertical boards mounted on areas of your home typically used to cover seams. The vertical boards are called battens.

Raised Panel

Raised panel wainscoting is used to create a more elegant design to give your cabinet or wall that finishing touch.
