How much space do I need for a pantry?
The amount of space needed for a kitchen pantry is entirely dependent on the homeowner. With the use of our pantry accessories, a functional pantry can be easily constructed with standard cabinetry. Items like a walk-in pantry can be created by using the various pantry accessories and shelving. In larger homes, a butler’s pantry is sometimes used to store fine china, silverware, and bulky cooking items that are not used daily, like slow cookers. How do I organize my food pantry?
A well-organized pantry storage space allows you to see everything at a single glance. Designate storage areas for different types of food such as canned goods, dry goods, and even baked goods. This type of storage organization makes it easier to find what you are looking for while cooking.

Use clear bins, or wire, plastic or wicker baskets to hold loose items that do not stack well. Use vertical tiered shelves to store spices and other small items, so they can be easily found. Use clear stackable containers to store items such as flour, sugar, pasta, cereals, etc. once they are open. If using a shelving system, keep storage organization in mind. It is proper to place heavier items on lower shelves, place items that are not needed as often on the top shelves, and keep frequently used canned and dry goods on shelves that are between waist and eye level.
How high should pantry shelves be?
If a pantry is not constructed inside a standard kitchen cabinet, then it should commonly come with adjustable shelves. The ideal depth for pantry shelving is 16 inches deep. Always allow 2 inches of space between the tallest item on the shelf and the shelf above it. If using our custom cabinet You Draw It program, pantry shelves should be no more than a few inches taller than the tallest person in the home. Commonly, when stocked with items, a pantry's height should be no taller than 96 inches.
