FILLERS & PILASTERS
Cabinet Fillers are generally 3" or 6" wide, pieces of wood, finished to match your cabinetry. They are used to fill in gaps between cabinets and provide the allowance needed to open and close your kitchen cabinets doors and drawers.
Filler, Fluted Fillers, Pilasters, and Fluted Pilasters can also be strictly for ornamental aesthetic purposes. Use a fluted filler to subtlety dress up around your cooktop, sink, entertainment unit, vanity, linen cabinet, etc. Want to bring extra attention to your cook top? Bump out the cabinet your cooktop is on and use Angled Fluted Base Pilasters to bring the two depths together. Use a filler as part of your stacked moulding, or perhaps a backsplash behind your sink. Add Rosettes or Onlays to fillers, or perhaps have your family crest carved and applied to some of the fillers used in your kitchen.
Pilasters are carved flat backed classic architectural elements that give the appearance of a supporting column. Usually treated as though it is a column, with a capital at the top and a plinth at the bottom.

A Quality Story
Carvings are made from solid wood blocks giving every final piece not only an aesthetic advantage for color matching, but a structural advantage as well. AFE's color matching process is very precise and efficient as they only cut from small amounts of blocks at a time. Woods include species such as Maple, Cherry, Oak and Hickory. They use the best hard maple in the world sourced from environmentally managed forests in North America.

In 1998, we realized that there was a need for high quality decorative wood elements for the Kitchen and Bath markets. Design was changing. Consumers wanted layered finishes, varied heights and depths, islands the size of their old kitchen, mouldings that matched their doors and corbels for their custom hoods. Seeing the need, we created DESIGNS OF DISTINCTION ®, a premier line of decorative wood accessories.
In the last 15 years, the Designs of Distinction ® line has grown from 100 decorative elements to more than 3500 components, all available for immediate shipment. These components make up our 30 designer collections.
